Art Photography

Fine art photography refers to photographs that are created in accordance with the creative vision of the photographer as artist.  I visited the university of Brighton and the museum which was much fun and opened my vision on art photography which was very interesting
Conceptual Photography

Art Photography the artist usually uses computer effects to make the photo look life like, which is confusing but also interesting and makes people attracted to the photo itself. Adding colours make the painting and image more striking. The lighting, darkness colour and shades of an image creates great beauty in the photo This involves and image painting or drawing  which the artists makes a photograph idea look make believe and editing to create the desired effect for the image. artist that do not use computer editing usually add props to make the image look how they want it to be seen. The photographs o saw in both of the galleries were very interesting although some of them I couldn’t quite understand but I understood some of the concepts the photographer was trying to show.

Context
Art photography usually involves  many different things like  such as style, quality, colour and texture and a variety of other things. The type of photo is important as that is what the photographer is also trying to catch the eye of the audience so they can see the different emotions in the photo

Texture
In art photography the photographer uses computer effects to make something seem more life like, which can make people confused whilst looking at the picture due to the different textures and lighting in a photo and make it look more like a painting.

Portraiture

Portraiture photography is often usually to show the personality and even the mood of the photography. Portraiture photo is not a snapshot, but used to show an image of a person in a fixed position. A portrait usually shows a person looking straight at the camera. Portraiture photography try to capture an image that was not show on the camera. In the 60's the wealthy people wanted their wealth to be shown in the image so they could put on a superior look than others.

Annie Mac PortraitPortraitMichael is well known for his portraits of musicians, including The Killers, Oasis, Kasabian, La Roux, Ian Brown, Pixie Lott, Kaiser Chiefs, and Portishead to name just a few, and other celebrities from the worlds of sport, film, and music. Portraits are usualy shot in black and white, although using colour is a more modern thing.

Portraiture is common in everyday things in life. Advertisers use portraiture to advertise magazines. Companies and businesses like to use portraiture more than landscape as it does not take as much space as a portrait photo.

The style of texture is a main character in portraiture photography to make it noticeable, to compliment the texture to the background. Photographer may add effective texture to the whole of the image to create an impact..
Portraiture it was mostly used for people from royal backgrounds, dukes and duchesses used as they could choose what they wore and what they looked like. To emphasize their wealth.

Fashion Photography

Introduction to Fashion photography

Photography was developed in the 1830.Fashion photography made its first appearance in French magazines such as La mode practique. In 1909, Condé Nast took over Vogue magazine and contributed to the beginnings of fashion photography. Adolf de Meyer, who shot his models in natural environments and poses. Vogue was followed by, Harper's Bazaar, and the two companies were leaders in the field of fashion photography during the 1920s and 1930s

 Irving Penn

Irving Penn studied at the Philadelphia Museum School of Industrial Art  from which he was graduated in 1938. Penn's drawings were published and he also painted. As his career in photography blossomed, he became known for World War II feminine chic and glamour photography.

Penn Photographs still life objects in different arrangements. His images were clear and he used great clarity and detail. Many times his photographs were so ahead of their time that they only came to be appreciated as important works in the modernist canon years after their creation.  A series of posed nudes whose physical shapes range from thin to plump were shot in 1949-1950, but were not exhibited until 1980.

Ruth Harriet Louise January 13, 1903 - 1940 was an American professional photographer, the first woman photographer active in Hollywood. Ruth was  twenty two years old, alothough her carrer only last for five years and as the only woman working as a portrait photographer for the Hollywood.studios.

Techniques
Each photographer has their own techniques but most of the time the picture depends on the make up, lighting and model. If the make artist is not right the picture will not have the 3 dimensional effects it should because with the help of makeup it can create this. Make up contour of the model’s face which creates a 3 dimentionalality of the face without a great make up artist the photo will not be a great shot. Shadow on the makeup on the back and highlights on the front

Lighting for fashion is very soft unless it is very unusual. Most lighting for fashion has a soft box and is very frontal. General Fashion is done with a light background as you are usually showing off the clothing. Trying to sell something to a client you are not selling a face to a portrait person. We need to remember that most of the images are edited and photoshoped which is not the actual face of the model it is what the photographer wants to portray
